Everything started at the down of the previous century, when the ancestor of the Gu\u00e9rin family came down from the \u201cHaute Loire\u201d towards the rich plains of the \u201cC\u00e9vennes\u201d. His ambition, at the time, was to revive a deserted estate and develop it. The first results were quickly very fruitful, thus proving he was right.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Three generations later \u2013 as family tradition demands \u2013 his descendants Christian and Michel allied to materialize their dream of rebuilding a wine estate. The search for an ideal soil lasted almost ten years.<\/p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Louis XIII was particularly fond of Montfrin for its thermal springs and their many medicinal virtues. That\u2019s why Richelieu, when signing the Edit of Alais, naturally chose this place as his residence. This vintage thus pays tribute to the famous minister who linked the destiny of the village to that of a major writing in the history of France.<\/p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

The Clos Gu\u00e9rin extends over fifteen hectares, including twelve in vines. It forms a consistent whole on which Syrah and Grenache like to meet Cinsault and Mourv\u00e8dre. All the plots are classified as C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne Villages AOC.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Our commitment of the environment is reflected in the integral management of the vineyard in Organic agriculture<\/a> and the High Environmental Value<\/a> certification of the estate. Here, tillage replaces the use of substances that disturb biodiversity and threaten natural balances.<\/p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Since 1937 the regional designation \u201cC\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne\u201d has qualified the wines produced throughout the Rh\u00f4ne Valley. In its most southern part, on the edge of Provence, only a handful of municipalities benefit from the mention \u201cVillages\u201d. The real qualitative marker reflects the local know-how and promotes the specificities of the terroir. The several thousand hectares of land thus classified are subject to the very strict specifications that limit the yield as well as the choice of grape varieties, and supervise the winemaking process.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne Villages are thus recognized for their elegance, their finer although stronger aromas, and their ability to ageing.<\/p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

The Clos Gu\u00e9rin enjoys a privileged location: in the heart of the Golden Triangle, on a terrace dating back to the Quaternary period, it is as close as can be to the Rh\u00f4ne and the Gardon.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The soil is mostly made up of ancient alpine diluviums<\/em> turned into pebbles after millennia of slow erosion. Locally, these quartzite aggregates mixed with a matrix of red clays are sometimes present up to eight meter deep. They bring freshness and fruity aromas.<\/p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
