A family passion born in the XIXth<\/sup> century<\/p>\n

At the dawn of the previous century, the ancestor of the Gu\u00e9rin family, a well-advised farmer, native of \u201cHaute Loire\u201d, came down from his mountain abode towards the rich plains of the C\u00e9vennes in the Gard, to revive a deserted estate and develop it. The first results proved very fruitful, so much so that the ancestor soon sold this property in order to acquire three wine-growing \u201cmas\u201d to settle his sons at Saint-Ambroix, Mazac and Al\u00e8s.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The Al\u00e8s estate assigned to his son Baptiste and named \u201cMas des Pins\u201d is a delightful \u201cmas\u201d from the end of the XIXth<\/sup> century in the shade of century old pine trees and surrounded by the cultivated land. At that time, besides the vine, peach trees and fig trees, the estate produced cereals and vegetables. After the Second World War, the farm produced milk as well and became almost autonomous with its cattle and fowls.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a model of polyculture \u201cin the natural way\u201d as the first \u201cphytosanitary\u201d products appear on the agricultural market.<\/p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Jean and R\u00e9gis, Baptiste\u2019s sons carried on the family tradition, but, in the sixties, the deal changes with the deployment of intensive agriculture, the coming supermarkets and monetary inflation. The soil becomes somewhat unproductive for low yield productions. It becomes obvious that mixed farming on small areas cannot feed a man any longer.<\/p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The situation was getting worse and worse, when, in the early seventies, the estate was more and more besieged by the growing urbanization. The two sons of Jean, the young brothers Christian and Michel then fled from the fatal issue of the \u201cmas\u201d of their childhood. Passionate about technologies, Christian now works iron. Michel, devoted to dream furniture, is now a wood-carver.<\/p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Thirty years later, the two brothers, one devoted to stainless steel, and the second, devoted to the oak, allied to restore the family tradition and materialize their dream of building a wine-growing estate ex nihilo<\/em>. The search for an ideal soil lasted almost ten years.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

In 2011, they fell in love with a vineyard with no building, but exceptionally situated. So they bought it. It was the kick off of an audacious project. The \u201cplateau de Montfrin\u201d with the Alpilles and the Ventoux in the horizon, and overhanging the Rh\u00f4ne, strengthened by the Durance, is wholly attractive.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

As soon as 2013, the foundation stones of the Clos Gu\u00e9rin are laid, the Proven\u00e7al \u201cmas\u201d dresses with traditional materials, as inside the \u201cchai\u201d stainless steel and oak unite for the best.
